Lighting Plans & Fixture Recommendation

The power of light profoundly influences us. Our feeling of well being, mood, and sense of comfort are impacted by both natural and artificial light. Therefore, a lighting plan is a key element in Interior Design.

Lighting can flood a space for a crisp all-over view or add subtle nuances that can soothe or evoke drama. Prized art can be highlighted while other areas of the room are subdued.

Localized lighting provides focus for reading, hobbies or other tasks while dimming options adjust light to create a relaxed setting. All of these areas require consideration.

Willow Designs works with clients to layout a plan that fits their lifestyle. Lighting design provides a careful examination of how each area of the space will be used. This evaluation results in a layering of light that includes: ambient, direct, accent and task lighting options.

We will work with the client to establish the appropriate placement of fixtures and switches using blueprints or during an actual “walk-through” with the client and the electrician.

Alarm system technicians and audio installers should also be included in the process as the placement of their components may limit furniture and art placement options.

Recommendations regarding the appropriate fixtures, pendants, chandeliers and lamps are part of the lighting plan process. These recommendations will be based upon the illumination required, fixture style, scale, finish and budget.

A well-planned lighting design compliments all aspects of the completed design.
